If I Were a Virgo
This work is part of the Stardust Journey series, which explores identity, memory, and self-discovery through digital collage and mixed media.
Inspired by Virgo, the artwork reflects the desire to understand oneself through observation, analysis, and reflection. The figure is composed of three fragmented sections of the head, stitched together as though pieces of the self are being carefully examined and reassembled. Within the mind, a person peers through a microscope, intricate gears turn endlessly, and a small fragment of a real head appears among them. Together, these elements suggest a search for meaning through close attention, questioning, and self-examination.
Perched above the figure, a hummingbird extends its long beak into the opening between the stitched fragments, as if searching for something hidden beneath the surface. Rather than presenting understanding as a fixed destination, the work explores the ongoing process of looking inward and uncovering new layers of oneself. The imagery reflects a curiosity that is both analytical and intuitive, driven by a desire to bring scattered pieces into greater coherence.
Wheat fields and golden stalks flow throughout the body, symbolizing growth, patience, and the gradual nature of self-discovery. Set against pink linen fabric and purple-orange nebulae illuminated by soft yellow light, the composition unfolds within a dreamlike landscape where curiosity and reflection coexist. Within this space, clarity becomes less about finding perfect answers and more about remaining engaged with the questions. The artwork invites viewers to consider whether understanding themselves is a destination to reach, or a lifelong process of exploration.
